How To Create Winning Cold Calling Sales Scripts

Boost your lead conversion rate by creating a winning cold calling sales script!  Here’s how.

Oh, the dreaded cold calling.  It’s understandably a necessity, but does anyone actually enjoy it?  Creating a sales script can help make the situation a little less uncomfortable and helps avoid monotony and disconnect.

ZoomInfo had this to say on sales scripts: “Scripts create a setup for a quality conversion without stumbling on words or being pressured to put on a show.”

Businesses receive loads of cold calls, which normally go through a gatekeeper (i.e. secretary, receptionist, office manager, etc.), unless you have the prospective clients direct line.

Key Elements to a Successful Sales Script

Some things you’ll want to make sure that your sales script includes are:

·         An introduction identifying who you are

·         Context as to why you’re calling

·         A connection between your company the prospective client’s

·         Value propositions

·         A call to action

Your scripts can be fine-tuned and adjusted to be better suited towards the winning posture by tailoring them, so the scripts are specific to your target audience.  If you need a refresher on defining your target audience, hop on over to our blog for a quick review.

Sales Scripts Do’s and Don’ts

Do describe how your product or service will uniquely benefit them.

Don’t focus solely on the product or service.

Do use a personalized script, tailored to your audience.

Don’t read from a one size fits all script.  Not everyone is your customer.

Do use active listening and participate in a two-way conversation.

Don’t monopolize the conversation with one-way dialogue.

Do speak with shorter, conversational sentences that are easy to understand and follow.

Don’t use technical jargon and long-winded sentences.

Do open with a strong statement.

Don’t start off on the wrong foot with a standard opening line.

Cold Calling Sales Script Example

An example of a great cold calling sales script is this:

Hello there, Name.  This is YourName from Company X. How’s your day going so far?

Listen to the answer.

The reason that I’m calling is because I think we can benefit your company by providing X services. In the last quarter alone, we’ve been able to solve X problems resulting in X.

Our team is expertly trained in providing X services, designed to provide immense benefits by X.

If you’re available this DAY/Week, I’d love to set up a time to have a 20-minute chat about how we can help you.

Bonus: Tips for Cold Emailing

A great cold email that can really help you get your foot in the door takes into consideration 1) who is your audience and 2) what problem do you solve.  Once you understand those key elements, you can craft the perfect Call To Action (CTA).  Because that’s what it’s all about - a GREAT CTA.

An email that simply sells is likely to be deleted - if it even gets opened.  A catchy headline with a CTA they can’t resist can help open the door to new possibilities.  What value can you provide?  It’s not just about making a sale; it’s about making a connection.

If your cold email doesn’t land you a meeting, remember that by them just opening your email it’s no longer a cold lead, but rather a warm lead.  Keep nurturing the lead and eventually they may convert.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
